Homebrew is a package manager written by Max Howell in 2009. You might have heard of it if your an Apple fangirl because its the preinstalled package manager on all the fruity machines. Its okay, im in the same boat. I used it for some packages on my macbook at first. But then I started to wonder into the world of nvim, tmux and all of that good stuff. I realised that I wanted a unified setup for both my windows desktop (yeah i know... windows!) and my macbook. Thats when I found out about Linuxbrew. The name says it, its homebrew, but then for Linux. This made installing packages real easy. The only ting that I needed to do was to get WSL on my windows dekstop and install the packages from my Brewfile. You might ask: "What is a Brewfile?" Its just a file where you define all your dependencies, made possible by Homebrew Bundle.
So first we need to install Homebrew Bundle.
brew tap Homebrew/bundleAnd then run the command to install the packages from the Brewfile.
brew bundleBoom! My packages are now installed on both dekstop and macbook.
This setup is currently working for me. But Im sure there are different ways and probably even cleaner ways to manage packages! Im always interested to hear about different setups, so hit me up if you have something awesome to share. Thats it for now, thanks for reading!
